Chris Prakash, MD, is the Director of Quality Services and Chair of Medical Oncology Quality at Texas Oncology. He also serves as the Medical Director of Texas Oncology - Paris in Paris, Texas, where he practices as an oncology/hematology specialist, and is the President of the Texas Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Prakash is a fierce advocate for improving the healthcare of all Texans, especially in rural communities of Texas and across America.
Dr. Prakash received his medical degree from Dayanand Medical College in India, did his residency in internal medicine at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, New York, then completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at Karmanos Cancer Institute at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Prakash is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Task Force for rural cancer care and has spoken on this topic at various forums. As the Chair of the Texas Oncology Quality Committee, he strives to maintain the highest standards of medical oncology care across the statewide group. He is President of the Texas Society of Clinical Oncology, is a member and on the Board of Directors for Texas Oncology, and serves on Texas Medical Association’s Committee on Cancer. Through these associations, Dr. Prakash strives to influence health policy with the goal of improving cancer care and the lives of Texans and all Americans.
As a Principal Investigator for US Oncology Research, Dr. Prakash has brought numerous clinical trials to the patients of Lamar County, Texas and the surrounding areas. He is a columnist for local news outlets and regularly contributes healthcare articles. He and his wife are also active philanthropists in their community.
