Peter P. Toth MD, PhD

Peter P. Toth, MD, PhD, is Professor of of Clinical Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is also the Director of Preventive Cardiology at CGH Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Toth received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State University. He completed residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and Sigma Xi. He is a past president of the National Lipid Association, American Board of Clinical Lipidology, and the American Society of Preventive Cardiology. He is also chair of the American Heart Association's Council on Lipids, Lipoproteins, and Thrombosis.

Dr. Toth is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, American Society of Preventive Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. He has authored and coauthored over 500 publications in medical and scientific journals and textbooks. He is Series Editor of Springer’s textbook collection in Contemporary Cardiology. He has edited and written 22 textbooks on various aspects of cardiovascular medicine and has lectured on many topics in cardiovascular medicine throughout the world.
