Rebecca S. Heist, MD, MPH, is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Chair of Clinical Cancer Research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Heist received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and her master of public health degree from Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a fellowship in oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is board-certified in medical oncology with clinical interests in lung and esophageal cancers.

Dr. Heist is actively involved with leading and participating in clinical trials of novel investigational agents in lung cancer and molecular targets in cancer. As part of her work at the Termeer Center for Targeted Therapeutics at MGH, she leads first-in-human research, bridging the gap from translational science to early-phase clinical trials. Her findings have been published in journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
