Robert L. Coleman, MD, is a gynecologic oncologist and Chief Scientific Officer for The US Oncology Network in Houston, Texas. Dr. Coleman received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He then completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern Medicine Prentice Women’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, followed by a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
In his current role, Dr. Coleman manages the oncology clinical trials portfolio for his institution. Previously, Dr. Coleman served as a Professor and Ann Rife Cox Chair of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and as Executive Director of Cancer Network Research.
Dr. Coleman’s research focuses on drug discovery and novel therapeutics for ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, and cervical cancer; clinical trial development; and statistical design. He has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI for several Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP)-funded prospective clinical trials including those supporting the MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Ovarian and Uterine Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), as well as multiple partnered pharmaceutical-sponsored trials. He has authored or coauthored more than 600 scientific publications, including over 300 peer-reviewed original research articles.
